I’ve been awake since 3am this morning and I’m not that bothered.
For starters, I’ve no idea what woke me up. The apartment was silent. I was just awake. No illness, no stress, just awake. After tossing and turning for about thirty minutes, I gave up and started to read.
After an agonising ninety minutes, Frank finally woke up and I sorted us out some drinks. I doubt it will be my last coffee of the day.
If this was a normal working day, my mind would already be going to survival mode and how I would navigate client meetings and concentration. But we’re off to Japan this morning, so I have a long-ass journey I can use to catch up on this sleep.
Who knows? Maybe this will make adjusting to local time easier. I can’t believe it would make it any worse.
I’m looking forward to the onboard service from Finnair – who are usually excellent – including a stopover in Helsinki for a few hours. It’s always nice to break the journey – somehow it makes it more bearable. As does the onboard generosity of the cabin crew and their delicious champagne cocktails.
I have a long standing rule that food and drink consumed on aircraft doesn’t count. So I’ll be tucking in to everything they have to offer. The same applies to anything I can get my hands on in the airport lounges we’ll visit on the way.
This is the way.
See you on the other side.
