It’s been a week of no beers (or anything else booze-related) and, as predicted, it’s been a breeze.
To be fair, I’d be worried if I couldn’t go seven days with consuming alcohol. But even a week has demonstrated some benefits: I’m sleeping better and feeling ever so slightly less… ‘prosperous’ around my waist.
The scales tell me I’ve lost just over one kilo, which while not spectacular, is heading in the right direction. I’ve also been doing fifteen minutes of yoga first thing in each morning to wake up and loosen up my hips. This morning will be the test: I’m planning to go for a short run, to see how my achilles tendons cope. With plenty of stretching before and after, obviously.
We had friends over for dinner last night, and we shared tales of races gone by. It reminded me just how much I love running and how good I feel when I’m training for an event. So, the baby steps continue today with a brief run and we’ll take it from there.
But first: another coffee!
